Here are the age rating logos you see on the television when you turn it on. Currently, there is a small collection of countries that is here for the television info

United StatesEdit

In the United States, when you turn on your television and start viewing one of the programs, you have one of these logos on the top right corner of your television:
Children themed material

  • TV-Y(Television – Young): Especially recommended for children younger than 7. The level in impact is mild. Examples include Pocoyo, Teletubbies and Rugrats(And also All Grown Up until re-rated TV-Y7 on appeal)
  • TV-Y7(Television – Young 7+): Especially recommended for children older than 7(And younger than 14). The level in impact is moderate. Examples include SpongeBob SquarePants, FairlyOdd Parents and All Grown Up
  • TV-Y7-FV(Television – Young 7+ – Fantasy Violence): Especially recommended for children older than 7(And younger than 14). The level in impact is moderate, although there deems a bit more violence than in TV-Y7. This is the highest children-based category you get until you get TV-14. Examples include most action series such as Sonic X, Pokémon, etc.
    Adult themed material
  • TV G-logo(Television – General): General viewing. The level in impact is mild. Examples include Who Wants to be a Millionaire? and Animaniacs
  • 193px-TV-PG icon.svg(Television – Parental Guidance): General viewing, but may be inappropriate for young children unaccompanied. The level in impact is moderate. Examples include The Simpsons, Futurama and Supernanny
  • TV 14-logo(Television – 14+): Inappropriate for children under age 14. The level in impact is between moderate and strong. Examples include unedited versions of the Simpsons and Futurama and stuff that was rated PG-13 in the cinema such as Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
  • 193px-TV-MA icon.svg(Television – Mature Audiences): Inappropriate for children under age 16 or 17, and therefore, consumer advise is mandatory. The level in impact is strong. Examples include CSI: Crime Scene Investigation and stuff that was rated R or NC-17 in the cinema such as Bad Santa

United KingdomEdit

There is currently no rating system in the United Kingdom, however, any adult material cannot air any earlier than 9PM or later than 6AM as this is when most children are supposed to be in bed. Channel 4 edits some material, e.g. The Simpsons and Futurama, so that it can be viewed at any time.

FranceEdit

In France films released in television and cinema are rated by the CSA:

  • U(Universal): Suitable for all
  • -10(Not recommended for under 10): Not suitable for under 10s This rating is not used in the cinema
  • -12(Prohibited from under 12): Not suitable for under 12s. Symbol is shown for the whole duration of the program
  • -16(Prohibited from under 16): Not suitable for under 16s. Symbol is shown for the whole duration of the program
  • -18(Prohibited from under 18): Not suitable for under 18s. Symbol is shown for the whole duration of the program
  • X(Explicit): See -18
