Geoffrey Rush, born in Toowoomba, Queensland, is a popular Australian actor, often portraying quick-witted rogues. While best known for his role in the Pirates of the Caribbean films, he won an Oscar for Best Actor for his pained performance in the indie film Shine.
Biography
Geoffrey Rush won an Oscar for Best Actor in 1997 for the film Shine, and has subsequently been nominated three times: Best Supporting Actor in 1999 for Shakespeare in Love, Best Actor in 2000 for Quills, and Best Supporting Actor again in 2010 for The King's Speech and in 2012 the Australian Of the Year Award.
