Terrence Malick is an American film director, screenwriter, and producer. Malick has directed nine feature films across a span of over four decades. Most of his efforts have been highly regarded by critics and audiences, and several of his films are considered by many to be masterpieces. Malick has been nominated for 3 Academy Awards. In 1999, he was nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Director because of The Thin Red Line. In 2012, he was nominated for Best Achievement in Directing with The Tree of Life. His other films The New World and Days of Heaven were each nominated in other artistic and technical categories.
