Biography[]

Timothée Hal Chalamet (born December 27, 1995) is an American actor. Born to Nicole Flender and Marc Chalamet, he grew up in Hell's Kitchen in Manhattan with his older sister Pauline, spending summer vacations with his grandparents in Le Chambon-sur-Lignon (he is bilingual in English and French). As an adolescent, Chalamet struggled in his rigorous middle school program without a channel for his imagination and ended up attending Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts. The poor grades he had achieved at his middle school caused his application to LaGuardia to be rejected, but Chalamet's audition had stolen the heart of this then drama teacher and earned a spot in the school's acting department.

Chalamet's breakthrough came around at the time he was cast as Elio Perlman in Luca Guadagnino's Call Me by Your Name (adapted from André Aciman's novel of the same title) in 2017, capturing audiences with his effortless, alive performance, stealing the show from his co-stars by integrating immense emotion with his work. Chalamet has gone on to star in many critically-acclaimed films such as Greta Gerwig's Lady Bird (2017) and Little Women (2019), Denis Villeneuve's Dune (2021) and will lead Paul King's Wonka in 2023 along with Dune: Part Two (Villeneuve).

Chalamet is also notably praised for his good looks, sporting a sculpted, androgynous face and body, and paired with his philosophical, calming presence has rendered him a heartthrob among Gen Z'ers, who often compare his likes to those of Greek and Roman artwork. His unique looks are subject to many opinions of him and are key to his appeal as an actor.
